The Omega Factor
Jan. 29th, 2019 10:10 pmOver the last few days I've been listening to "The Omega Factor, series 3." If that name doesn't ring any bells for you then you're in good company; it's based on a show that was evidently popular in the 1970s but which I had never heard of before Big Finish created the audio series. The show (beware, there's flashing lights in the early part of the video at that link) sounds like a precursor to The X-Files. It featured Louise Jameson (aka Leela from Doctor Who) as physicist Dr. Anne Reynolds, and James Hazeldine as journalist and reluctant psychic Tom Crane.
The audio dramas pick up several decades after the TV series and focus on an older Anne Reynolds and Tom's son, Adam Dean, who is also a reluctant psychic and a bit of a mess. Adam is played by John Dorney, who I've mentioned a few times as one of my favorite Big Finish Doctor Who writers. He and Louise Jameson have great chemistry and their found family vibe is part of what makes the audios so fun.
The audios are also more creepy than scary, which is perfect for me. Also perfect? This is one of the few audios I likely won't feel any need to write for, which is a bit of a relief.
